Journal Entry #100 - Posted on Sunday December 21st, 2008 at 11:33 am by Robert Watcher It was brutal cold and blowing snow on Friday. Our town was all locked inwith roads leading to and exiting from - - - CLOSED BY ORDER. I was bored and so put together my Oly E-3 (without grip) and 50-200(without lens hood) and headed out into the snow filled streets aroundmy home to see if there was any possibility of finding photographiccontent. After about 20 minutes of this abuse (for both myself and mycamera), I packed it in and got in the warmth of home. I wanted to use the Black and White (Monochrome) feature of the E-3 asI have previously done with my E-500 a few years ago. I ended up with53 shots in that time and have post processed a few on my wife's Acerlaptop using Photoshop CS2 as it was experimental day. I wasn't surehow PS would work on her low priced core duo $500 laptop with 2GB ofRAM. Actually handled everything very well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Journal Entry #99 - Posted on Sunday December 7th, 2008 at 9:25 am by Robert Watcher My wild winter wedding this weekend. It proved to be a challenge making the close to hour and a half trip to London for this wedding - the roads were snow covered and slippery -- - even a worse story coming home with the strong winds that developed through the day. The weather of course was one of the bride's biggest concerns when the couple booked me while I was in Costa Rica last winter. While it made it a little more difficult for the small group of guests (50 in total) to get there, the snow storm and cold was actually kind of a nice thing photographically. The day before the wedding, I scouted out this location and found there to be no snow on the ground - I far preferred what I saw today with snow blanketing the ground. Their choice of location at Benmiller Inn helped also with it's protected landscape filled with trees, winding roads and streams. Here is a selection from the photographic session of the bride and groom and their bridal party. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited on Sunday December 7th, 2008 at 9:18 am Journal Entry #97 - Posted on Monday November 10th, 2008 at 9:27 am by Robert Watcher Page 1: ![]() Pages 2, 3: ![]() Pages 4,5: ![]() Pages 6,7: ![]() Pages 8,9: ![]() Pages 10,11: ![]() Pages 12,13: ![]() Pages 14,15: ![]() Pages 16,17: ![]() Pages 18,19: ![]() Page 20: ![]() A couple of snapshots of the finished book (double page spread=16"x10"): ![]() ![]() Edited on Monday November 10th, 2008 at 9:34 am Journal Entry #96 - Posted on Tuesday October 14th, 2008 at 9:55 am by Robert Watcher A wonderful fun loving couple I photographed on the University of Western Ontario grounds where they had gone to school .Gregg contacted me last December (2007) to purchase Gift Certificate for a Portrait Session for Christine. When I was contacted a few weeks ago by Chris to follow through on booking her session, I was informed that the two are now engaged and that they would prefer to have the portraits include them both. That was not a problem. We arranged to meet at UWO where they had a couple of backdrops chosen. ![]() ![]() Chris had chosen an area where there were doors and windows - she said there was something about them she liked. I used this location and posed them using a trendier style. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ----------------------------------- VIDEO CLIP OF SHOOT I was fortunate to have my 3D animator buddy with me to help with fill lighting duties - and to my surprise he brought along his little Canon camera to record a bit of the process with a few clips of Video. I'm so glad he did as it is fun to watch the process, methods and explanations that I used to deal with the couple and to disarm them so that the shoot wouldn't be intimidating. I personally think it is great seeing and hearing the way they respond to me also. They were so cooperative and understanding.
